Mobility Buying Guide

We understand that if you suffer from mobility issues moving around your bedroom can be problematic and troublesome, particularly when getting in and out of bed. OrangeBadge stock a wide variety of solutions, but before you make your purchase consider the following questions to ensure you get the best care possible.

What do I need to consider when buying a Bedroom product?

Before purchasing a bed you need to consider what you’re looking for. With so much variation available it can feel overwhelming, so ask yourself what you need from your bed. Is it for solely yourself or do you need one with enough room for yourself and your partner? Do you want a single, double, or kingsize? Have you got enough space in your bedroom? Do you need to take measurements? Buying a new bed can also mean purchasing new accessories – a new mattress, a headboard, an over-bed table etc. Have you considered your options?

What types of Beds are there to choose from?

There are two main types of bed available: profiling/care beds, and electrical beds. Profiling or care beds are ideal for bed-bound patients or anyone who needs support throughout the night for their back and legs.

This type of bed requires manual adjustment by the user or a carer to manoeuvre the bed into the required position, but are a cost-effective solution for those in need.

Electrical beds are adjusted by the use of a remote control, erasing the requirement for a third party to help. Due to this the user can feel a sense of independence, able to move the bed into their chosen position freely and easily. However, due to the mechanics involved electrical beds generally cost more than a profiling or care bed.

What type of Bed is right for me?

This question again requires you to ask yourself what you are looking for. Do you require a carer to assist you during the day? Do you have a budget to stick to?

Then a profiling/care bed would be best. If you’re after freedom and independence, with the ability to control your own comfort, or are after a little luxury, then an electrical bed is the top choice for you. It’s all down to what you want to gain from your new bed.

What type of Bedroom Accessories are there to choose from?

We stock a wide array of bedroom accessories for you to choose from. When buying a new bed you may also want to consider purchasing a new mattress. Whether you’re after a memory foam, pocket sprung, or electric mattress, we have plenty to pick from, all giving you the best support and comfort for a good night’s sleep. Do you require a headboard for your new bed frame? Again, we stock a selection for you to view, with you sure to find one to fit with your bedroom décor. Also available to you are over-bed tables, ideal for carrying out activities such as writing and reading while in bed, and bed lights, handy for a direct light source and erasing the need to get out of bed to turn it off at night.
