A Guide to Choosing Mattresses

Choosing the right mattress for your needs

We currently have a variety of five main mattress types available, all manufactured to a high degree of quality and available in any size from 2’3” to 5’0”(excluding massage options, which are available to a maximum of 4’0”), the details of which are outlined below.

The balmoral luxury pocket mattress

  • 1.8mm gauge individually pocketed springs which are specifically configured to enable easy flexing of the mattress
  • Springs held together with metal hog clips + encased in double pockets to provide added strength, longevity and comfort.
  • Springs are sandwiched between double thicknesses of rich compressed wool sheeting and additional luxury Kashmir wool outer layer, the mattress finish being high quality woven damask
  • Firmness can be reasonably described as medium firm

Reflex Foam Mattress

  • Manufactured from100% reflex foam by Vitafoam
  • Consists of specially formulated, medically approved high quality foam content, which is non-fibrous and fully hypo-allergenic
  • High restitution, therefore long shape retention qualities with very little change over very long periods of heavy usage.
  • Exceptionally high resistance to deterioration through moisture

Perfolatex 99.9% Pure Natural Latex Mattress

  • Manufactured by Vitacom using 99.9% purely natural latex. The final 0.1% is synthetic latex which combined with the natural product to ensure an optimal mass-hardness ratio.
  • One of the best mattress solutions for flexible back care support.
  • Very soft-feel spongy mattress
  • Because of softness the standard perfolatex isn’t recommended for individuals over 14 stone, or for individuals with significantly restricted movement capability as the sponge-like characteristics can make it difficult to manoeuvre

Reflex/latex Wrap Combination Mattress

  • This combines the best features of both the reflex and perfolatex foams, with a 5” reflex foam core encased in a 1” wrap-around layer of perfolatex
  • The combination gives a firm body which makes both handling of the mattress (turning etc) and manoeuvring thereon easy, yet also offers the comfort benefits of a latex style mattress.

Reflexion Pressure Relief Mattress

  • This Mattress consists of a layered synthetic foam mattress core, built up of a reflex foam under layer which is graded to an individual users weight, together with a ‘multi-zoned’ vasco-elastic ‘memory foam’ overlay to carry the body surface and support it whilst evening out pressure distribution right across the body contours
  • It is an excellent option for those seeking a good pressure-relief mattress, and can aid in helping to prevent pressure-related problems associated with people who tend to spend most of their time in bed.

Mattresses With Built in Massage Unit

  • Available for Reflex Foam, Latex wrap and Reflexion mattresses
  • Features five low voltage (12 volt) Relaxor massage pad units, which are set halfway into the mattress thickness at measured intervals along the length of the head-foot centreline of the mattress surface.
  • Operates using a separate handset with a variety of different user-defined settings from the ability to set individual pads vibrating, to preset configurations such as wave or pulse settings.
  • Also features a built in snooze facility.

Speciality Mattresses

Orange Badge Mobility is able to supply mattresses that conform to individual specifications, for example special firmness and non-standard length mattresses, as well as hypo-allergenic pocket sprung mattresses and increased fire retardancy mattresses suitable for institutional environments. These options incur additional costs, details of which can be obtained upon request. So call us if you think we can help.
